Positions:

• One upper elementary (4 th -6 th grade combined) teacher for dual language Montessori classroom, English environment. Bilingual/biliterate is preferred but an intermediate speaker of Spanish will be considered.
• Three lower elementary (1 st -3 rd grade combined) teachers for dual language Montessori classrooms, two Spanish environment classrooms and one English environment classrooms. For the Spanish classrooms, bilingual/biliterate is required. For the English classroom, it is preferred, but an intermediate speaker of Spanish will be considered.

Salary: $34,200 minimum, higher depending on qualifications, with great benefits.

School: This Dual Language (Spanish/English) Montessori public school, part of Denver Public Schools, opened August 2001. Current enrollment is 400 students, ages 3-11. Each school year, another grade (50 students) is added as children move to the next level. The school will be full for the first time in 2007-08, with a total enrollment of 450 students, ages 3-12.

Students : Population is 55% native English speaking, 45% native Spanish speaking. Parent body is very involved.

Language of Instruction:

• 3- and 4-year-olds: 75% native language, 25% second language
• 5-8 year-olds: 60% native language, 40% second language
• 9-12 year-olds: 50% native language, 50% second language

Requirements :

• Must hold at least a bachelor's degree in elementary education, which includes student teaching.
• Bilingual/biliterate (English/Spanish) required in Spanish environment, preferred in English environment.
• Strong background in multicultural education; sensitivity to linguistic, cultural and socio-economic differences within community.
• Must be American Montessori Society or American Montessori International trained, or willing to undergo training over the summer.
• Must undergo dual language training during the academic year.
